The 2012 Delhi Auto Expo was started with the launch of the eagerly awaited bike, the Thunderbird 500 from Royal Enfield. This has been followed by the unveiling of a series of fascinating two-wheelers that have been able to grab the attention of visitors. However, a vehicle that was unveiled at the Auto Expo and has also captured the imagination of most visitors is neither a car nor a motorbike. It is, in fact, a bicycle that Firefox Bikes has launched, named Trek Elite 9.9 SSL, its claim to fame being the fact that it is the costliest bicycle in India.
The frame of this bicycle has been fully designed using carbon, which justifies the 10kg weight of the bike. The MD, Firefox Bikes, Shiv Inder Singh has said that the bike has been targetted for high-end bikers, who like to ride bikes for fun. Apart from its carbon frame, this bicycle has been provided with high performing brakes, hydraulic shock absorbers and around thirty speed variations. The company is claiming that there has been huge demand for the bikes post its display at the Expo and it has already sold two of the same. As revealed by sources within Firefox Bikes, the company has also launched its MTV Bikes using the platform of the Auto Expo.
The features that have gone into designing this bicycle include its complete Mountain Carbon frame along with E2 head tube that has been Net Molded. Other features include its off-road no-cut seat mast, BB90 having Precision Fit sockets and an internal control routing. Provided to the front suspension is Remote RL from Fox F Series along with Fit cartridge, rebound, air spring, remote lockout, 100mm travel, E2 tapered steering, center locking and 10-speed shifters from Shimano XTR.
Some other features that have been provided to the Trek Elite 9.9 SSL include its excellent fitting button bracket which is accompanied by excellent rear shift. This enables the bike rider to power through different bike tracks. Only two variants of these bikes have been made available ? the Elite 9.9SSL and the Elite Frame 9.9SSL.
